Many workplaces encourage charitable giving through giving committees and matching gift programs. Here is some helpful information:
Tell your company’s giving committee about NAMI and why mental health is important to you. Here is a sample letter to help you share information about NAMI with your organization:
Dear Giving Committee,
I wanted to reach out and tell you about an organization that is very important to me, and which I would like you to consider when choosing a charity for your next donation. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) provides mental health education, support, and advocacy in our community, and all of their services are free.
Now, more than ever before, fundraising for NAMI Boulder County is crucial. People living with a mental illness are counting on funds raised by people like us, to ensure that programs continue to serve those in need. I’m committed to doing all that I can to help those affected by mental illness, and I hope I can count on you to support my fundraising efforts and the great work of NAMI Boulder County. To learn more about NAMI Boulder County, see their website here. They are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and are not affiliated with any specific political or religious groups. Please support me by making a charitable donation TODAY.
A matching gift is an easy way to double or even triple your contribution to NAMI. Thousands of companies have programs that match their employees’ contributions to their favorite charities. Contact your human resources department to find out if your company has a program.
Your company likely uses one of two ways to secure your additional matching gift to NAMI:
- A matching gift form. Obtain the form from your company, fill out the “donor” section and mail it to NAMI. NAMI will complete the “charity” section of the form and mail it back to your company. This will confirm your gift and request their matching gift.
- A receipt of your gift. Make your donation to NAMI through the mail or online. Upon receipt of your gift, NAMI will send acknowledgement of your contribution. Bring this document to your company, who will distribute their matching gift to NAMI.
